Why do we experience Déjà Vu ? 😲

You walk into a room and see someone talking.... And then it hits you, you have experienced this moment before! I am sure that allot of us have been in such a situation. However, there is a scientific explanation for this too!  Many scientists believe that this is some sort of a short circuit or a malfunction in our brain. Theory #1: There are many theories surrounding this phenomenon. The first one revolves around the concept of familiarity. The fact that the brain might confuse it with something that we are familiar with instead of something that we remember distinctly. Theory # 2: 🔬 The other theory is about delay processing in the brain! The fact that the brain might process the signal twice, hence making us feel like we have seen or experienced the situation before. Overall, the cause of  Déjà Vu is still disputed upon. With many scientific theories trying to back it up, it is still something that science needs to completely decode. Anyways that's all for today! Com...

Can Algae be used as a biofuel?

In a world that's continuously evolving, one of the most prominent issues that's getting increasingly pivotal for the world to solve is fossil fuels depletion. Although, we've learned about the climate extremity in detail when young, the world seems to turn a blind eye to the issue at the moment.

Numerous renewable methods like solar, wind and wave energy are being used due to their sustainability  benefits. Still, these methods themselves might be too expensive or occasionallyhave environmental consequences. Thus, today bring to you another strong contender in this race:  ALGAE

What are Algae???

- Algae are a group of photosynthetic organisms present in the water, from microscopic algae to large seaweeds.

- Unlike other energy sources, like the corn fuel which requires land for growth, microscopic algae does not. which makes it particularly appealing to scientists.

Advantages of Algae as a Biofuel

-Fast growth: Algae species have the remarkable capability to grow within a few hours. This makes them largely productive. Inclusively, they produce about 30 times as much oil per acre than traditional crops like corn.

- Algae can grow in non-fertile lands, or waste waterthus it does  not need to compete with other crops for food.

- It's also suitable to absorb carbon emissions from industriesmanufactories making it an effective carbon sink.

Disadvantages

- Potential environmental damage: if not controlled, algae can potentially harm the terrain. Their inordinate presence can lead to the death of plants in the lake, pond, etc. Hence, this would lead to the growth of bacteria as, they use oxygen in the water body thereby dwindling the oxygen and harming other living organisms in the terrain.

-High production costs are required to produce algae on a large scale.

- The technology need to produce algae as a biofuel is still fairly new and needs enhancement.

That´s it for todayComment down below if you have any questions!!!!

  1. Is algae as a biofuel already used anywhere in the world???

    1. Although Algae is already being used in many parts of the world, it has not been commercialized mainly due to the economic challenges: an example of which are companies like Sapphire Energy in the US or Muradel in Australia

  2. Can algae be used as anything besides fuel?

  3. Indeed, algae has many uses besides being used as a fuels: including but not limited to pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, supplements, etc
